Key fashion pieces to obtain British style

British style is desired worldwide, our high street is the most famous and coveted of all. Although eclectic, there are a few key pieces to obtaining British style.

Leather jacket

Due to the not-so-lovely weather for most of the year it is crucial to invest in a few good jackets. I think leather jackets can be added to any outfit to give it a British twist, whether it be a pretty dress or a simple tee and jeans. The rock chick vibe is big in the UK and adding a leather jacket is the easiest way to achieve it, go for one with some studding if you're feeling brave.

Skinny jeans

A great fitting pair of skinny jeans are essential. Jeans are such a wardrobe staple for many occasions as they can be dressed up with heels for night time or dressed down for day with flats or Converse. As you'll probably end up wearing your jeans a lot I believe it is worth investing in some well made, slightly higher priced styles. If you are on a budget though the Great British High Street does some fantastic shapes with rises and pocket placement options to suit everyone!

Jewellery

British women love their jewellery. There's no need to spend hundreds either, the high street do some great beautiful and quirky pieces. Go for large, unusual styles. A large pendant on a long chain is easy to wear with a simple t-shirt but makes a real statement.

Fashion risk shoes

Brits aren't afraid to have fun with fashion and take some risks. The easiest way to add this into your wardrobe is with shoes. Most British women have enviable shoe collections, and I will also admit to owning a few too many pairs! The shoes you wear can really make your outfit. Adding some chunky heels will give some great height with added comfort, they are also a lot easier to walk in! Go for shoes in bright colours or loud patterns and add them to simple outfits. And really… who doesn't need a pair of silver glittery boots?

Wellies

Still in the shoe genre but it is essential that every British girl owns a pair of Wellington Boots. Whether it be for excessive rain or deep snow, the UK is the king of freak whether and you'll never know when your wellies will come in handy... even when it randomly snows in April! Wellington boots are also great for achieving that festival look when worn with denim shorts in the summertime, because it does still rain in July!

Umbrella

Okay, not so much a style piece but it rains a LOT in the UK! It's definitely worth buying a cute umbrella or maybe a couple in different colours so you can co-ordinate them with your outfits!

British style is very trend led so watching the key pieces from each season will give a better idea of the style in Britain at that time and what to add to achieve it. Experiment and have fun with your clothes to give a truly British air to your style.
